Plato, ‘’Allegory of the cave’’
‘’Plato’s allegory of the cave is one of the best-known, most insightful attempts to explain the nature of reality. The cave represents the state of most human beings, and the tale of a dramatic exit from the cave is the source of true understanding. ‘’( HYPERLINK “http://www.studymode).com” www.studymode).com Plato wrote the allegory of the cave. ‘’The cave is meant to be an analogy of the effects education has on human beings.’’ (www.prezi).com The cave represents people who believe that knowledge comes from what we see and hear in the world. Plato’s students used his theories and beliefs. The freed prisoner who breaks freed of his constraints from the chains. He learns of new ideas and levels of thought that exist outside of the human level of thinking.
We can only what is true when we know. the freed prisoner from the cave to come cross seeing new world filled with people, animals, and objects. The philosopher is saying the human being some are ignorant and intelligent. The shadows represent the people, animals, & objects. Free prisoner was very amazing with the real world. The sun was very bright for his eyes to adjust. The men felt the grass between his toes. The cave is a hollow; large dark place in the ground. The world is open; space filled with endless opportunity. The prisoner need been outside the cave. He suggests there are two different forms of vison, a mind’s eye and a bodily eye. The mind eye is a higher level of thinking for the freed prisoner in the new world.
The prisoners lived in underground den cave. His fellow prisoners react to him coming back to cave that he was a little crazy person. They thought his imaginary was running wild. The freed prisoner talks about his new surroundings and discoveries in the new world. The sun was very bright; it hurt your eyes. His eyes were hard adjusting to the sun light and because he spends all his life in a cave. The trapped imprisoned in the dark; shallow cave. The false reality he had believed down in the darkness. He would pity those still trapped there; do not see the light.
The chained prisoners did not want to hear the truth. Freed prisoner saw men, women, and children fully clothed. He analyzed himself wearing nothing but a short; dirty rag with long beard. The freed prisoner from the cave represent is a person who want more; bigger things in life. ‘’ feeling sorry for all his fellow prisoners, the freed prisoner goes back down and explains to everyone that they’re all trapped in the massive cave and everything they think is real is an illusion. Guess What? They think he’s nuts. He keeps trying to convince them, and he’s finally able to persuade a few but the rest choose to remain where they are’’( www.shmopp.com)
The chained; imprisoned men do not want to hear the truth. The prisoner came up with names for the animals, objects, etc. They are interpreting their world intelligible to them. Human being tends not to understand; implement in this world. The dialogue between Socrates and Glaucon was very same theory and analyzed. The cave showed shadow objects for reflection from the fire. The prisoners did not think the shadow objects were real. It makes believe things in them their minds. There was a new world full of people, animals, and books. The prisoner wants to learn how the world work. He wants to learn how things operate in this new world. The imprisoned prisoner still in the underground den. The chained prisoners were very ignorant, lost human beings. The Socrates was Plato’s education he was learning about how the world work, human beings think and see; spread his knowledge.
The town people did want to hear about the truth from Plato. Plato tells about his theories on numerous of subjects. One of Plato’s theory are mind’s eye and bodily eye talk about during philosopher. The mind’s eye is see the images around the new world. The bodily eyes are different senses we use daily based.’’ When the mind’s eye rests on objects illuminated by truth and reality, it understands and comprehends them, and functions intelligently; but when it turn to the twilight world of change and decay, it can only form opinions, its vision is confused and its beliefs shifting, and it seems to lack intelligence.’’ ( Plato quote). ‘’ Any one who has common sense will remember that the bewilderments of the eyes are of two kinds, and arise from two causes, either from coming out of the light, which is true of the mind’s eye, quite as much as of the bodily eye; and he who remembers this when he sees any one whose vision is perplexed and weak, will not be too ready to laugh; he will first talk whether that soul of man has come out of the brighter light, and is unable to see because unaccustomed to the dark, or having is turned from darkness to the day is dazzled by excess of light.’’ ( Plato quotes from azquotes.com)
The mind’s eye is a truth and speak to the people. The world is seen beautiful and natural people & animals. The bird is chirping sitting in the trees. The dog is barking while playing in the yard. The human beings were dressed in fancy clothes. Positive think about life and images in general. They are very intelligent, wise, and strong-minded human beings. The freed prisoner is the mind’s eye is using his brain; bright and creative way of sharing his experience. The freed man also used his common sense. He explains to the imprisoned men about the things he saw in the new world and objects. He moved out of the cave in society. The freed prisoner walks from the dark; shallow cave. He walks into the bright; open-space filled with explore and adventure. He was amazing with new world such as people, animals, food, and etc. He created the stories setting from the events around him. The scenery picture can be so convinced. Pictures of objects or things in our head is want is may seem. The images will be brilliant, brightness, and never blotchy. Mind’s eye is an illusion of imagining images is the real one.
The bodily ’s eye is a metaphor for the senses. You feel the sand between your toes on the beach. Are you thinking about the sand between your toes or the senses working to know the sand is there? We question how things work or why is it that color. Plato’s want us to use our brains and think critically. The bodily eye is physically world filled with images. Their minds see images and sense more clearly.
